Rare Spares TV Commercial

Automotive replacement parts company, Rare Spares, have unveiled a new TV commercial.  Shot and produced by well known production company AVE, the commercial uses popular motorsport and industry identities, John Bowe and Kim Jane.

It’s a bold move for Rare Spares, who have spent the better part of the last ten years using print and magazine advertising as their main marketing stay.

“We were given the opportunity to become a major sponsor of Speedweek, which is a popular motorsport program that appears on SBS and Fox Sports.  The sponsorship involves naming rights to the Rare Spares Wild Ride section for the next 35 weeks plus a nostalgic segment called Rare Spares Rewind that will appear from December,” said Rare Spares’ General Manager, David Rayner.

“Our arrangement with Speedweek also includes TV commercial placements.  Because Rare Spares hasn’t used TV as an advertising medium for a number of years, we needed to produce a new ad and we are very proud of what we have come up with,” Rayner added.

Shot in and around the suburbs of Melbourne, the TV commercial uses a number of key messages about Rare Spares that have been constructed by the company’s marketing department – “In fact the whole ad was written and directed by our marketing team.  We start with a gentleman [Kim Jane] peering through a fence, looking at a GTS Monaro that’s in a wrecking yard.  He reminisces about seeing the same car as a kid and wonders how he can get all the parts to restore the old beauty.  With a little help from John Bowe and Rare Spares, the final shot of the ad shows him, with his son, polishing off a fully restored car.”

“We’ve also done the same ad using a Ford XY Falcon GT, which will run on alternate weeks on Speedweek,” Rayner said.

Rare Spares’ new TV commercial can be seen every Sunday on SBS’ Speedweek, with the Wild Ride and Rewind segments to be seen on both Speedweek and Fox Sports’ Inside Speed program.
